Why we built EZvest

Investing information is everywhere - and that's exactly the problem. It's scattered across a dozen tabs, buried in jargon, and often pushes people toward what to buy rather than helping them understand. For beginners especially, the market can feel like a private language.

We built EZvest to fix that. It brings live markets, plain-language news, a global economic calendar, portfolio tracking and a Learning Hub into a single, calm space. And at the centre is FinBot, an AI research guide that explains what's happening in everyday language - so the workspace teaches as you use it.

Education first, always

This is the principle that shapes every part of EZvest: we help you think, we don't tell you what to buy. FinBot and every feature are framed as educational research tools. There are no buy or sell recommendations, no black-box tips - just clearer context, so the final decision stays firmly with you. Where a decision matters, we encourage speaking to a licensed professional.

What EZvest brings together

  • Markets - JSE and global indices, stocks, crypto, forex and commodities at a glance
  • News - market headlines with one-tap FinBot breakdowns
  • Portfolio - value, allocation, risk and diversification made visible
  • Learning Hub - 80+ lessons and quizzes that pay you XP
  • FinBot - plain-language AI research, never advice

Global-first, with local context

Markets are global, but context is local. EZvest covers major US, European and global markets alongside the JSE and regional details that matter to South African investors - from currencies to local exchange context - so the picture is complete without losing the home ground.

Responsible by design

Because money is personal, we treat trust as a feature. EZvest is transparent about being an educational tool, clear about what its data shows, and careful with your information. You can read exactly how we handle data in our Privacy Policy and the rules of using EZvest in our Terms of Service.

How we write and review our guides

Every guide on EZvest is written and edited by the EZvest team rather than credited to a single author, because the guides are a shared product of the same people who build the app. That makes it more important, not less, to be explicit about how they are produced. This is our editorial process:

Our editorial process

  • Scope. We write about the questions South African beginners actually ask - how an account works, what something costs, how it is taxed. We do not publish share tips, price targets or model portfolios.
  • Sourcing. Rules, limits and tax figures are taken from primary sources - SARS, the SARB, the JSE and the product providers themselves - not from other blogs. Where a figure is tied to a tax year or an annual limit, we name the year on the page.
  • Worked numbers. Examples use rand figures and stated assumptions so you can follow the arithmetic and substitute your own. Assumed returns are labelled as assumptions, never as forecasts.
  • Review. Each guide is reviewed by a second member of the team before publishing, and the whole library is re-checked at least twice a year - and sooner when a Budget, a SARB decision or a provider change makes something out of date.
  • Dating. Every guide carries the month it was last reviewed. If the date is old, treat the numbers with suspicion and check the primary source.
  • Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it on the page and move the review date. Tell us at support@ezvest.co.za and we will correct it.

What we are, and what we are not

EZvest is an education and research tool. We are not a broker: we do not hold your money, we do not execute trades, and we have no financial interest in which investment you choose. We are not a licensed financial services provider, and nothing we publish is personal financial advice - it cannot be, because we do not know your circumstances, your obligations or your goals. Anything on this site is general information. Where a decision matters, speak to an FSCA-licensed adviser who can look at your full position.
